Author Instructions

Welcome — these Author Instructions apply to all journals published by Neewaj. Neewaj follows publisher-level policies for submission, review, publishing, archiving and licensing. Please read these instructions carefully before preparing and submitting your manuscript. Submissions that do not follow these guidelines may be returned to the authors before peer review.

Manuscript structure & required elements

Prepare your submission using the following order and include each item as separate sections/files where indicated:

  1. Title page (separate file) — include:
    • Full title (concise and informative).
    • Running title (≤ 50 characters).
    • Full names of all authors and institutional affiliations.
    • Corresponding author contact: full postal address, telephone number, and email.
    • ORCID iDs for all authors (strongly encouraged).
    • Word count (main text), number of figures and tables, and number of references.
    • A short author contribution statement (who did what).
    • Declaration of competing interests/conflicts of interest.
    • Funding statement (grant numbers and funders).
  2. Cover letter (separate file — template below) — addressed to the Editor, briefly stating the novelty, significance and suitability for the chosen journal, confirmation that the manuscript is original and not under consideration elsewhere, and statements about ethics approvals and data availability.
  3. Abstract & Keywords
    • Abstract: 150–300 words. For original research, provide a structured abstract with Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions where appropriate.
    • Keywords: 3–6 keywords (in lower case, comma separated).
  4. Main manuscript (single file, e.g., DOCX / LaTeX source) — organized as:
    • Introduction
    • Materials & Methods (or Methods)
    • Results
    • Discussion
    • Conclusions (if required)
    • Acknowledgements (if any)
    • Author contributions
    • Conflicts of interest
    • Funding statement
    • Data availability statement
  5. References — see Reference style below.
  6. Tables and Figures
    • Tables may be embedded in the manuscript or uploaded as separate files.
    • Figures should be high resolution (see file requirements). Provide figure legends in the main manuscript file.
  7. Supplementary material (if applicable) — upload as separate files and clearly label (e.g., Supplementary Fig S1, Supplementary Table S1, Supplementary Methods).

File formats & technical requirements

  • Main manuscript: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or LaTeX (source files + compiled PDF). If using LaTeX, include all source files and a compiled PDF.
  • Figures: Submit as separate files in TIFF, PNG, JPEG, or EPS for vector graphics. Recommended resolution: ≥300 dpi for raster images at final print size. Avoid embedding low-resolution screenshots.
  • Tables: Microsoft Word tables or Excel (.xlsx). Number tables sequentially and add descriptive captions.
  • Supplementary files: PDF, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, or ZIP (for multiple files).
  • File naming: Use clear file names (e.g., Surname2025_Manuscript.docx, Fig1.tif, Supplementary_Data.zip).
  • Language: Manuscripts must be in English. Authors are responsible for language quality; professional language editing before submission is recommended if needed.

Formatting & style

  • Font & spacing: Times New Roman or Arial, 12 pt, double-spaced (for Word). Use one-inch margins.
  • Section headings: Use clear, hierarchical headings (e.g., 1, 1.1, 1.2).
  • Units & notation: Use SI units where applicable and follow consistent notation. Spell out abbreviations at first mention.
  • Ethics statements: Include approvals and consent in Methods or a separate Ethics section where human/animal participants are involved.

Reference style (Vancouver / numeric)

Neewaj recommends a numeric (Vancouver) reference style. Cite references in text by number in square brackets in order of appearance: e.g., “Studies have shown… [1,3–5].”

Examples:

  • Journal article: Smith J, Kumar A. Title of article. Journal Name. 2024;12(4):123–130.
  • Book: Brown P. Title of Book. 2nd ed. City: Publisher; 2019.
  • DOI: include DOI where available: e.g., doi:10.1234/example.2024

(If your target journal requires a different style, consult that journal’s specific policy; otherwise use Vancouver consistently.)

Data availability & supplementary data

  • Authors must include a Data Availability Statement explaining where supporting data, code or materials can be accessed (public repository links, DOI, or statement if data are confidential).
  • Authors are encouraged to deposit datasets in recognized public repositories; persistent identifiers (DOIs) for datasets should be included in the manuscript.
  • If data are available on request (restricted), provide the rationale and contact details.

Preprints, prior publication & simultaneous submissions

  • Preprints (e.g., arXiv, bioRxiv) are permitted and do not constitute prior publication. Authors should cite preprints and provide links/DOIs.
  • Simultaneous submissions to multiple journals are not allowed. Manuscripts must not be under consideration elsewhere.

Authorship, contributorship & competing interests

  • Authors must meet standard authorship criteria (substantial contribution to conception/design or data acquisition/analysis; drafting or critical revision; final approval; accountability for accuracy). Provide a short Author Contributions statement.
  • Disclose all competing interests or state “The authors declare no competing interests.” Conflicts of interest will be published with the article.

Human and animal research ethics

  • Manuscripts reporting research on human participants must include: name of ethics committee, approval number, and statement of informed consent. Clinical trials must be registered in a recognized registry (registry name and registration number must be provided).
  • Animal research must conform to institutional, national or international guidelines and include ethics approval details.
  • For case reports with identifiable patient information, authors must provide written informed consent from the patient or legal guardian.

Plagiarism, originality & screening

  • Manuscripts must be original work. All sources must be properly cited.
  • Neewaj conducts similarity checks (e.g., iThenticate or similar) at submission. Excessive overlap or undisclosed reuse may result in rejection.

Copyright, licensing & author rights

  • Upon acceptance, authors retain copyright. Articles are published under CC BY 4.0. Authors grant Neewaj a non-exclusive right to publish and distribute the work. Full details are in the Copyright & Licensing policy.

APC & waivers

  • The APC is USD 200 per accepted article. Waivers or discounts are available based on need or regional considerations — see the APC & Waiver Policy for eligibility and application instructions. Payment instructions and timing are provided on the Manuscript Submission page and at acceptance.

Post-acceptance: proofs, DOI & archiving

  • After acceptance, authors will receive page proofs to correct only factual or typographical errors. Substantive changes after acceptance are not permitted without editorial approval.
  • Each published article will receive a DOI (via Zenodo) and will be archived on Internet Archive and SSRN. The final published version (Version of Record) will be available on the journal site under CC BY 4.0.

Corrections, retractions & ethical breaches

  • Neewaj follows transparent policies on corrections, expressions of concern and retractions. If errors are identified post-publication, the journal will follow COPE best practices (see Ethics & Integrity Policy).

How manuscripts are handled (brief overview)

  1. Initial editorial check: For scope, compliance with submission guidelines, plagiarism screening and ethical approvals.
  2. Peer review: Manuscripts passing initial checks are sent for peer review as detailed in the Peer Review & Editorial Policy.
  3. Editorial decision: Decisions include Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject. Authors receive reviewer reports and decision letters. (See the Peer Review page for more details.)

Note: Detailed peer review procedures, reviewer criteria, appeals and editorial governance are explained in the Peer Review & Editorial Policy hub.
